What Chronic Granulocytic Leukemia Means

Chronic Granulocytic Leukemia (CGL), more commonly called Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML), is a type of cancer that affects the blood and bone marrow. In simple terms, it means the body makes too many immature white blood cells called myeloblasts. These cells normally develop into myeloid cells that help fight infections. When too many myeloblasts build up, they crowd out healthy blood cells, making it harder for the blood to carry oxygen, fight infections, and control bleeding.
