What HER2 Negative Means

HER2 Negative means that cancer cells have little or no HER2 protein on their surface. HER2 stands for human epidermal growth factor receptor 2, a protein that helps control how cells grow and divide. In some cancers, especially breast cancer, cells have too much HER2, which can make the cancer grow faster. When cancer is HER2 negative, it means the cells do not have this extra protein, and they may grow more slowly.

Why HER2 Negative Matters in Cancer Care
