A scanner is a medical instrument that takes pictures of the inside of your body. These images help doctors see organs, tissues, and sometimes cancer cells. Different scanners use different technologies. For example, CT scanners use X-rays to create detailed pictures, MRI scanners use magnets and radio waves, and PET scanners use small amounts of radioactive tracers to highlight areas of activity inside the body.
