Her official bio says her work has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Smithsonian, O: The Oprah Magazine, and other publications; she has been featured in PBS Frontline’s The Vaccine War and CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360. Her site says she earned a B.A. from Cornell University, a master’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley, and a Ph.D. from Emory University, and taught American literature at the University of Abdou Moumouni in Niger as a Fulbright fellow.
