Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR)

Systematic tensing and releasing of muscle groups to promote relaxation and reduce distress. This protocol is categorized as Mind-Body Practices and is included because people commonly use it as a non-medical, complementary, or supportive cancer-care approach. PROS May reduce stress, anxiety, distress, sleep problems, pain perception, or treatment-related symptom burden as supportive care.
